The 2019 Dallas Cowboys have largely been a healthy squad, but that doesn’t hold true for all of its positions, specifically left guard. They have now lost their second player to a season ending injury with Xavier Su’a-Filo breaking his leg in the Week 16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and had surgery yesterday in order to repair the damage.
Xavier Su’a-Filo is in surgery right now after breaking a bone in his leg yesterday. He is also headed for IR.

Su’a-Filo is following in the unfortunate footsteps of Connor Williams, who started the first 12 games before tearing his ACL on Thanksgiving’s Week 13 tilt with the Buffalo Bills. Like Williams, Su’a-Filo left the game only to return to suffer a worse fate. He is set to be a free agent this off-season after signing a two year deal in 2018.
Interior lineman Joe Looney, who started all 16 games at center in 2018 while incumbent Travis Frederick was dealing with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, took over the duties when Su’a-Filo left and will likely continue to do so for however much time this Dallas season has left in it.
