Colts’ QB Anthony Richardson was not the only NFL star to undergo surgery Tuesday. Cowboys’ CB Trevon Diggs underwent surgery on his torn ACL, per sources. Doctors discovered that all of Diggs’ other ligaments were intact, and he now is poised to return in 2024.

Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs underwent successful knee surgery Tuesday, looking to repair his torn ACL suffered during practice on September 21. According to multiple reports, he did not sustain any damage to other ligaments, paving the way for a successful return next season.
Diggs, who had one interception on the season while only allowing two receptions, was supposed to be half of a formidable cornerback duo opposite former Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore.
The combination may have only made it through two games as Gilmore is on just a one-year deal.
One may wonder why Diggs waited over a month to have the surgery when he was officially placed on injured reserve on September 23rd. While there is no word yet on the cause for the delay, multiple factors such as swelling (edema) and body temperature (hyperthermia) can play roles in how long before a player is ready for the surgery. The risk of arthrofibrosis, or a buildup of scar tissue, becomes a concern as well.
Diggs will not return this season for the Cowboys, however his recovery plan appears to be on schedule.
