Cowboys star CB Trevon Diggs suffered a torn ACL in practice

NFC East news: The Dallas Cowboys fear that Pro Bowl CB Trevon Diggs suffered a torn ACL in practice on Thursday

The Dallas Cowboys are undefeated (2-0) and have the league’s top defensive unit, but a Thursday afternoon injury to Trevon Diggs could alter the NFL’s Super Bowl landscape.

According to Tom Pelissero, Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs is feared to have suffered a torn ACL.

According to ESPN, Diggs suffered the injury during a 1-on-1 drill and was spotted on crutches.

It’s a crushing blow for Dallas, which signed Diggs to a five-year, $97 million contract extension during training camp, including a $21.25 million signing bonus and $42.3 million guaranteed.

Diggs has missed just one game in each of the last two years, and through two games this season, Diggs has forced a fumble, intercepted a pass, and has three passes defended for the No. 1 ranked defense in yards and points per game.

With Diggs out, the Cowboys will turn to DaRon Bland opposite Stephon Gilmore, with Jourdan Lewis taking over in the slot.
