Cowboys reserve linebacker Luke Gifford out for game

Dallas Cowboys backup linebacker Luke Gifford ruled out of the contest with the Los Angeles Rams due to an arm injury in the first quarter.

The Dallas Cowboys went long at linebacker today in case Sean Lee was unable to make it through the entire game.

Turns out, he isn’t even the first linebacker to be ruled out of action for the remainder of Sunday as Luke Gifford has been ruled out after injuring his arm on punt coverage in the first quarter.

Gifford had yet to log a defensive snap on the season but has contributed on special teams since his return in Week 6. He caught the eye of both the coaching staff and fans during the preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers that included an interception. He ultimately left that exhibition after suffering a high ankle sprain.
