Cowboys QB Dak Prescott suffered a calf injury in Week 6 against the Patriots. Since then, Prescott’s status for the Week 8 matchup with the Vikings has been up in the air.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Dallas QB is pushing to play. Prescott will go through his normal pregame warmup in hopes of getting the green light to start against the Vikings, per Pelissero.
“He’ll go full speed, throw to receivers … then the organization will make the final call,” Pelissero said on Twitter.
If Prescott is unavailable, Cooper Rush should make the start for the Cowboys. I think it’s a given that Minnesota will be underdogs if Prescott is starting. But the Vikings should be favorited in a game with Rush at quarterback.
That said, it’s still a toss-up who wins, regardless of whether Prescott plays. The Vikings are 3-3 for a reason — this is an up-and-down team. And Dallas still has a high-octane offense with Ezekiel Elliott, CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper.
