Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is making his return to the field in Week 7 against the Detroit Lions. It will be the first game for Prescott since he injured his thumb in the Cowboys’ Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers.
The fact Prescott is making his return in a home game against the NFL’s worst defense is no coincidence. As Ed Werder of ESPN reports, Prescott “personally chose the Lions” as his comeback game.
Werder reported from the field at AT&T Stadium with Cowboys players warming up around him that it was a deliberate choice by Prescott to face Detroit.
“Cowboys playing at home, playing against a one-win Lions team that’s allowed a league-worst 34 points per game and the most points (allowed) in franchise history through the first five games. Prescott has played the Lions three times in his career, winning each game (and) averaging 30 points, eight touchdown passes, no interceptions.”
Given all that, it’s pretty clear why Prescott waited an extra week to face Detroit despite potentially being ready to play for Dallas in Week 6 against the unbeaten Eagles.
