Thursday’s playdate with the Broncos had a little bit of everything for the Cowboys. There were encouraging moments, like Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb seeming to be in perfect sync and Tarell Basham swiping a pass from Russell Wilson. But there were also painful moments, like John Ridgeway and Ian Bunting limping off the field and Ezekiel Elliott getting blasted by an overzealous Denver linebacker. And there were fights. Six of them, to be exact, although none of them got out of hand. Football against other teams is back.

Elsewhere, we’re looking into the new role Tony Pollard may play this season, we’re getting to know Dalton Schultz in new and unexpected ways, and we’re reflecting on Randy Gregory’s eagerly anticipated reunion with his old Cowboys mates. Michael Irvin talks about what trait he thinks the club valued over talent with this year’s draft class, we wonder what Tom Brady’s training camp hiatus might mean for the Week 1 matchup with Tampa Bay, and we dive into the monumental effort that goes into moving the Dallas Cowboys to Oxnard, Calif. for a couple weeks every summer. That’s all up next in News and Notes.
