The Cowboys’ defensive coordinator position is still up in the air as Dan Quinn continues his interviews with other teams. Monday saw him leave for Washington, but not until after he’d taken in some of the practice sessions at The Star for the East/West Shrine Bowl. Coincidentally, the Commanders’ ex-coach looks to be a top name up for consideration to replace Quinn in Dallas if he leaves. And one of the Cowboys’ most highly-regraded defensive assistants goes on the record saying that he’d follow Quinn anywhere for a football job… which means he may be departing Big D soon, too.
Elsewhere, the Cowboys’ top rivals are eagerly awaiting the arrival of a former coordinator, and another ex-Dallas staffer goes back to college to take over an up-and-coming unit. We’re looking ahead to 2024 with running back salaries, candidates to make the third-year jump, and the Dak Prescott option that no one seems to be talking about. We’re previewing Super Bowl LVIII with Cowboys connections on both sides, as well as the Tony Romo-Taylor Swift connection that took place over the weekend. All that, plus Markquese Bell takes home a special honor, and more… in News and Notes.
