The Dallas Cowboys shuffled their roster yet again, this time in anticipation for the biggest NFC matchup of the 2022 season. As they boarded their plane for the east coast, the club announced their Week 6 roster moves to prepare to take on the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles. When it comes to roster moves, each NFL week follows a similar pattern.

Two days before the game, in this case Friday, the club files their official injury report following the week of practice. On the next day the team announces any practice squad call-ups, which Dallas has taken advantage of every week since the process began in 2020. On game day, about an hour and a half before kickoff the team will announce their inactives, a group of 5-7 players on the roster who will not dress in pads for the game. In Week 6, Dallas’ elevations are part of a bigger shuffle as they have moved RB Rico Dowdle and WR Simi Fehoko off the roster and into injured/reserve.

Fehoko (shoulder) is a complete surprise, as he wasn’t on any of this week’s practice/injury report. Meanwhile Dowdle is somewhat a surprise as it wasn’t let on his ankle was serious enough to warrant a four-week break.

Dallas added just one player to their official roster, long snapper Matt Overton, and then elevated two PS players for the week brining their roster to 54 for Week 6. It leaves a roster spot open for a player to be added next week, such as LB Damone Clark off the NFI.

Among the callups is former Florida Gators RB Malik Davis, who was really impressive during preseason. Dowdle hasn’t carried the ball yet this season, so Davis is likely an emergency play in the offensive backfield but should see time on special teams.

The team will have to make six players inactive on Sunday afternoon. In the meantime, here’s a look at the full roster.
