The Dallas Cowboys’ injury woes continue today with the announcement that veteran linebacker Sean Lee is expected to be out six weeks after undergoing hernia surgery last week with a specialist in Philadelphia. Lee, already on the Cowboys injured reserved list, is now expected to be back in the middle of October.
The Cowboys already have found themselves quite thin at the linebacker position following their Week 1 loss to the Rams. Within the first half of football the team lost starting linebacker Leighton Vander Esch to a broken collar bone. Vander Esch was placed on IR and the team expects him to be back at some point later in 2020.

The Cowboys will look to veterans such as Joe Thomas to step in and fill this even bigger hole at the linebacker position. The team also made a corresponding move to add to their linebacker depth by signing Rashad Smith from the Chicago Bears practice squad.
Cowboys elected not to promote LB Francis Bernard from practice squad, signing LB Rashad Smith off Bears’ PS instead. But they’ll be protecting Bernard for a second straight week. No other team can sign him. This was only way Dallas could have both Bernard and Smith in building.

The Cowboys have confidence they have quality players in house to step up to the plate as they get set to face another high powered offense in the Atlanta Falcons in their home opener in AT&T Stadium.
