Another Cowboys defender is returning to Dan Quinn’s unit. As reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, safety Jayron Kearse has agreed to terms that will being him back to the team for a second season.
Kearse’s new deal is reported to be of the two-year variety and worth $10 million, with the possibility of him earning as much as $11 million.
The former seventh-round pick out of Clemson signed with Dallas last March, joining on a one-year contract after a year in Detroit that saw him start the 2020 season serving a three-game suspension. Prior to that, he had played spottily in Minnesota for four seasons.
One of the numerous free agents brought to Dallas on the cheap in the defensive remodel under Quinn, Kearse quickly separated from the pack to start 15 games and handle much of the defensive play-calling duties. He was in on 101 tackles and posted two interceptions, a fumble recovery, and a sack while playing on 88% of the season’s defensive snaps.
Kearse himself was happy to announce the news of his new Dallas deal to his Twitter followers.
Much gratitude and glory to God. But this far from over!

The Florida native turned 28 just last month and will be entering his seventh season in the league.
“I’m just going to keep going out there and playing good football,” Kearse said in December after being denied his first Pro Bowl nomination. “Keep putting good tape out there, and that’s all I’m worried about right now… I’m going to go out there and play good football. The people that watch football and know everything, they see it. I’m good with that.”
The Dallas front office saw it. And now Cowboys fans will get the opportunity to keep seeing it in 2022 and beyond.
