The Steelers have never been on the forefront of NFL analytics.

A member of the Pittsburgh Steelers front office is headed to the Dallas Cowboys. According to ESPN sports analytics writer Seth Walder, the Cowboys are hiring data analyst William Britt to be a strategic football analyst for the team.

Britt has spent the last two years with the Steelers in his role analyzing data and as far as we can tell was the only member of the front office who did it full-time. Pittsburgh does have Tosin Kazeem who did some data analysis and could see his role expand with the loss of Britt.

Pittsburgh has been criticized in the past for its lack of reliance on analytics and not being as forward-thinking in that department as much of the league. The loss of Britt means the Steelers are taking something of a step back in that department but with Omar Khan in charge, you can bet he has something up his sleeve.
