There’s a lot to complain about with the way the Dallas Cowboys have started the majority of their games thus far in 2019. Prior to the last two weeks, both losses, Dallas has not been able to get off to a fast start for the entire season.
This, though, this takes the cake. The Cowboys are giving the Rams possession of the ball to start the first half. And the second half.
It appears that the Cowboys won the coin flip, but when asked what they wanted to do, quarterback Dak Prescott said they wanted to kick.
The proper protocol would be to say they defer the choice until the second half. Because of the snaffu, according to the interpretation by the broadcast team that includes former head of referees Mike Pierera, the Rams have the option to receive the ball or kick off to start the third quarter.
Of course, they are going to receive the ball and therefore be able to start both halves with possession if this interpretation remains in effect.
Cowboys PR is checking to see whether Dak Prescott screwed up the options on the opening toss or Walt Anderson misspoke. It is unclear.

The Cowboys are reeling on the season, and to add to the coin flip snaffu the opening kickoff sailed out of bounds, allowing the Rams to start the game at their own 40-yard line.
Fortunately, Los Angeles QB Jared Goff has been woefully inaccurate and the game is still tied at 0-0 after the first three possessions, with Dallas getting the ball.
