The Philadelphia Eagles are the current beast of the NFC East but Vegas oddsmakers have once again pegged the Cowboys as favorites to win the division entering the 2020 NFL season.
Dallas added Mike McCarthy at head coach, re-signed Amari Cooper, and landed Oklahoma All-American wideout CeeDee Lamb in the first round of the draft. Even as the Cowboys hog all the early preseason attention, bettors have their on the most consistent team in the division.
According to Pete Watt and the analysis over at Oddschecker, the Cowboys are the clear early season betting favorites but the majority of the preseason betting wagers have been placed on the Eagles to repeat as champions.
“Doug Pederson has very quietly gone about his business and somehow continues to be unappreciated by many outside of Philadelphia for the incredible job he is doing.”
“In Carson Wentz, the Eagles possess the only QB in the league to throw a touchdown in every game of last season and he’ll be looking to match that this year. Couple that with an exciting rookie class and it’s clear to see why plenty think that the Eagles are a good bet for the NFC East.”
Even ass oddsmakers project the Cowboys to be the stronger team in the division, 47% of wagers on the market have gone behind the Eagles – 38% for the Cowboys, 9% for the Redskins and 6% for the Giants.
The Eagles quietly added some serious hardware to the roster in Darius Slay, Javon Hargrave, and Nickell Robey-Coleman.
