There are only two double-digit favorites in the NFL ahead of Week 16: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their game against the Carolina Panthers. The other is the Dallas Cowboys, who opened as 10.5-point favorites over the Washington Football Team, according to Tipico Sportsbook.
These longtime rivals met just two weeks ago in Washington when the Cowboys jumped out to a 24-0 lead on the WFT before holding on for a 27-20 win.
A lot has happened to Washington since that game. Yes, Washington was already battling a number of significant injuries but is currently in the midst of a COVID-19 outbreak that saw almost half of its roster spend some time on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
So, it’s no surprise the Cowboys are a big favorite. Washington’s injury issues, Dallas’ healthy roster, the Week 14 result and the WFT coming into Sunday having just played on Tuesday night, make the Cowboys a strong favorite for Week 16.
The thing to watch heading into the game is if either of Washington’s top two quarterbacks, Taylor Heinicke or Kyle Allen, are activated off the COVID list before Sunday. That could slightly impact the betting lines.
