Cowboys add 4 to practice squad, including big tight end

From @ToddBrock24f7: Eric Saubert was a 5th-round draft choice by Dan Quinn’s Falcons; versatile guard Adam Pankey played under Mike McCarthy in Green Bay.

After releasing linebacker Mikel Jones and offensive lineman Alex Taylor-Prioleau on Monday, the Cowboys practice squad had four empty slots.

Those slots have been filled with a quartet of new signings.

The club has announced the addition of tight end Eric Saubert, linebacker Buddy Johnson, guard Chris Glaser, and guard Adam Pankey.

Saubert was a fifth-round draft pick by Atlanta in 2017. He spent two seasons with Dan Quinn’s Falcons, but the six-foot-five-inch Drake product has bounced around since then. He appeared in two games for the Bears in 2019, eight games for Jacksonville in 2020, and every game for Denver over the past two seasons. He was with Miami this summer in training camp.

Johnson is a Dallas native who played his college ball at Texas A&M. A fourth-round draft pick in 2021, he lasted just one season with Pittsburgh. Since then, he’s spent time on the practice squads of San Francisco, Houston, and Chicago.

Glaser went undrafted out of Virginia in 2022 and has college experience at both right and left guard. He’s been with the Chiefs and Jets.

Pankey is a 300-pounder who was on Mike McCarthy’s Packers roster in 2017 and 2018, though he played very sparingly. In 2019, the undrafted West Virginia alum joined the Dolphins, where he made seven game appearances from 2019 though 2021. He was in camp with the Jets this summer and was cut from their practice squad earlier this month.

All four players worked out for Dallas last week and will now be available for up to three gameday elevations.
