The Dallas Cowboys are stunningly healthy compared to where they’ve been over the course of the season, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t injury concerns. All eyes, of course, are on quarterback Dak Prescott as he prepares to rejoin the club on the field after five weeks on the sideline. Dallas never placed Prescott on injured reserve, preferring to keep him ultimately engaged and able to communicate with Cooper Rush during games.
The same can’t be said for fifth-round rookie Matt Waletzko, who the team placed on IR on Saturday. Waletzko missed much of training camp with a shoulder injury, but was able to get himself to the point of availability prior to the season and avoiding IR. Something happened on Thursday and the team is finally preparing for the surgery they’ve put off. As a result, a spot on the 53-man roster became available.
In actuality, two spots were available after Dallas placed both WR Simi Fehoko and RB Rico Dowdle on IR last week and only adding LS Matt Overton. It’s believed they’re saving a roster spot for the NFI activation of linbacker Damone Clark, but that hasn’t happened yet. In response to placing Waletzko on IR the team has added DT Carlos Watkins. In addition to Watkins, the club has once again elevated both RB Malik Davis and TE Sean McKeon. Here’s a look at the full 54-man roster for Week 7 against the Detroit Lions.
