Two players have fallen out of our tracker, as the team announced that neither LB Leighton Vander Esch nor ST CJ Goodwin would be returning to the club this season. Both are significant losses for the Dallas Cowboys, but not ones they aren’t familiar with coping from for the 2023 year. Each had already spent the requisite amount of time on IR to be eligible for return if healthy, four weeks.
Now, the team is admitting they will go the rest of the way without them. That reduced the number of players on the 53-man roster who could have their 21-day practice window opened down to two, and one of those guys is taking advantage. TE Peyton Hendershot returned to practice on Wednesday and looks like he will be reinstated to the big roster before this weekend’s contest against Carolina.
