The Dallas Cowboys are licking their wounds and readying mentally to return to work in Week 8, facing the stiff challenge of saving their season. The defending NFC East champions look nothing like the team that won 12 games in three straight seasons, instead locking in the personality of the nervous, timid club that got dog-walked by the upstart Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round.
Things got testy over the last week, with owner Jerry Jones getting so flustered he threatened to fire radio hosts who don’t even work for him; at least not directly. The pressure of losing in embarrassing fashion on his birthday, combined with a fanbase turning their backs on the normally beloved team owner, didn’t inspire the desired action of adding to the roster in a signficant way, though.
Dallas did make a move over the bye week, but one of likely limited impact, swapping out practice squad defensive tackles on a team that is being mauled in the run game is certainly an interesting reaction. As the Cowboys turn their attention to the San Francisco 49ers, here’s a look at the full roster heading into Week 8, including the 53-man main, the 17-man practice squad, and the updated status of everyone on the Reserved/Injured (IR) list.
Each player on the practice squad can be called up to the big roster a total of 3 times and still revert back to the practice squad following the game without being released to the open market or waivers.
Each team can elevate two players per week through the regular season.
