The Cowboys can start marking their calendars, at least through mid-June. Offseason workout dates have been announced for all teams, according to the league Friday afternoon.
The Cowboys’ voluntary offseason slate begins on Monday, April 18. For two weeks following that date, the team will be in what is considered Phase One of the program; activities are limited to meetings, strength and conditioning work, and physical rehab.
The next three weeks see a move to Phase Two. As outlined by the current collective bargaining agreement, work can begin on the field in very controlled fashion: individual or group instruction or drills, “perfect play drills,” and offensive players lining up across from other offensive players (likewise for defensive players), all conducted at a walk-through pace. No live contact or offense-versus-defense is allowed.
Phase Three’s OTA workouts are scheduled to take place at The Star in Frisco May 24-25, June 1-2, June 6-7, and June 9-10. Still no live contact here, but 7-on-7, 9-on-9, and 11-on-11 drills can begin.
Mandatory minicamp, also part of Phase Three, will be held June 14 through 16.
This schedule does not include rookie minicamp, which can occur over a seven-week period beginning as early as May 16. Dates for the Cowboys’ rookie program will be announced later.
According to the team, offseason work has already begun for some. Roughly 30 players- including Dak Prescott, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Tyron Smith- have been in the facility for non-coached, player-led “captains’ workouts.”
