Could Tom Herman resurface as the Tennessee head coach?

Tennessee should call Tom Herman now that they‘re searching for a new head coach.

When Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte decided to move from Tom Herman, some thought it wouldn’t take long for him to resurface.

After all, Herman won four significant bowl games with Texas and became the first head coach in school history to win each of his first four. On top of that, he was the first head coach to appear in four bowl games in four years. Although Herman struggled in key areas, there are still positives to take away from his tenure with the Longhorns.

Herman finished with three recruiting classes inside the top 10 in his first three years as the head coach. He left Texas with a respectable record of 32-18.

When you count in his time with the University of Houston, Herman has a total record of 54-22 as a collegiate head coach and two top 10 finishes. His resume will look appealing to several other programs.

Speaking of, could Herman trade one UT for the other UT? With the recent firing of Jeremy Pruitt from Tennessee, why not kick the tires on Herman?

Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports weighed the pros and cons of multiple candidates. Take a look at what he had to say about Herman.

Herman is available and itching to get right back in the game after being fired at Texas. The Vols could do worse than hiring a guy with a .710 winning percentage who has never lost a bowl game.

Why not? Herman decides to lay out a year or two, counting his $15 million buyout.

Reports have been rather quiet concerning Herman’s future, but you can bet he won’t step away from the game for too long.
