Could we see a return to the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl in 2021? The LSU Tigers made the trip to the Peach Bowl back in the 2019 season as they marched toward’s their fourth national championship.
This time around, there is no College Football Playoff semifinal attached to the game, but given the results of 2020, this would be viewed as a success. The Tigers declined a bowl game invite last season after finish 5-5. All teams were eligible due to the pandemic season.
Going into 2021, it should be more of the norm. Teams would need six wins to qualify for a bowl game.

In the latest bowl projections from Jerry Palm of CBS Sports, the Tigers would travel to Atlanta, Georgia, to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Peach Bowl.
The SEC looks like it is going to have another big season with three more teams in the New Year’s Six projections: Georgia, Texas A&M and LSU. The Bulldogs are projected to face Iowa State in the Sugar Bowl as the Cyclones return much of the team that won last season’s Big 12 regular season title.
LSU is projected to the Peach Bowl to face Notre Dame. The Tigers should bounce back from a dreadful season that was heavily impacted by opt-outs and other issues. The Fighting Irish are back to being an independent after spending the COVID-19 pandemic season in the ACC.
A matchup of LSU and Notre Dame would put two of the top 12 teams in wins all-time head-to-head. The Tigers are at No. 12 with 817 wins, while The Irish check-in at No. 5 with 918 wins. These two squads have met in bowl season a total of four times since 1997. The Tigers defeated the Fighting Irish in the 2007 Sugar Bowl, their only New Years Six matchup.
Overall Notre Dame leads the all-time series 7-5 and has a two-game winning streak against the Bayou Bengals. This seems more in line with our latest game-by-game predictions for LSU. If they finish 10-2 in the regular season, a trip to Atlanta could very well be on the table for head coach Ed Orgeron and company.
