Could Bengals making playoffs be a good long-shot bet?

Are the Cincinnati Bengals a good playoff bet?

Now that things have slowed down ahead of training camps it seems the national perspective is starting to realize the Cincinnati Bengals are…a pretty interesting team going into 2020.

Joe Burrow’s elite cast of weapons just had one expert suggesting the Bengals could be a “sneaky-good team.”

And now another analyst doesn’t mind the long-shot adds the Bengals have of making the playoffs.

Pro Football Focus’ Ben Brown noted while the Bengals have roughly a 13.8 percent chance of making the postseason, the bet isn’t a terrible one:

“However, there is enough talent on this roster — with playmakers at all of the key offensive and defensive positions — for them to make a significant leap in Burrow’s first season. Burrow is a historic prospect in his own right, so the talent around him serves to only bolster his 2020 outlook. And while the AFC might have the two best teams in the NFL in Baltimore and Kansas City, questions linger for all of the remaining playoff contenders.”

In the lengthy breakdown, Brown notes not only the weapons around Burrow, Burrow as a prospect and the roster overhaul but the fact the AFC is top-heavy.

All points are hard to disagree with right now. And again, the details surrounding the Bengals only serve to point out the team should be much better than the 2-14 mark it put up a season ago.

Playoffs would be a fun boon for the Bengals in 2020. Andrew Luck spurred a massive turnaround in Indianapolis. Ben Roethlisberger — who Burrow was recently compared to for this reason — went to the playoffs and won a game there as a rookie.

The postseason isn’t impossible for the Bengals. A big turnaround even without playoffs would be a massive step in the right direction too. Either way, things aren’t as terrible as they seem outlook-wise.
