Could Arik Gilbert land with one of LSU’s top rivals?

LSU tight end Arik Gilbert could be headed to Florida.

LSU tight end entered the transfer portal after a season in which he was “homesick,” and could very well end up landing with one of LSU’s biggest rivals.

There has been some buzz about Gilbert ending up at Georgia or Tennessee, but as of now, it also appears that he could join the Florida Gators — a major rival to LSU.

According to Mike Farrell, the national recruiting director for Rivals, a source close to Florida’s program has informed him that the Gators is a “done deal.”

Someone like Gilbert could make a huge impact for a Florida team that dropped its last three games, providing a reliable target for Gators quarterback Emory Jones.

Gilbert was a five-star prospect coming out of high school, and showed a lot of potential to become an even better playmaker than he already is, at LSU.

Before opting out, Gilbert caught 35 passes for 368 yards with two touchdowns for the Tigers.

It will be interesting to see where Gilberts goes, or if LSU can talk him into coming back ahead of the 2021 season.
