NASCAR has finished its fourth year of racing at Circuit of the Americas, and Sunday’s event was good. William Byron held off a hard-charging Christopher Bell for his second victory of the 2024 NASCAR season. Meanwhile, the racing was pure with long green-flag runs. However, will the Cup Series return to COTA for a fifth year in 2025?
According to the Austin American-Statesman, Marcus Smith, SMI president and CEO, said, “We’re planning for another big event week,” at COTA in 2025. Smith stressed that nothing is official until the 2025 schedules are released, but it appears that COTA’s return is heading in the right direction. As of now, there is no contract in place for next year.
The Cup Series would benefit from COTA returning for another season, as the racing on Sunday was exciting to watch. There weren’t any restart disasters, and while there were no natural cautions, several drivers spun out throughout the day. NASCAR must like what it sees at COTA because there is optimism that it will return for another campaign.
