The UFC finally folded in the face of the coronavirus pandemic when, after days of resistance, the promotion decided to officially postpone its next three events.
Fight cards originally set for London (March 21), Columbus (March 28) and Portland, Ore. (April 11) have been pushed off until further notice. UFC president Dana White announced the news to company employees on Monday.
The decision alters plans for nearly 40 scheduled fights, and while UFC 249 on April 18 is still on the docket, additional postponements are still a possibility.
Naturally, the news has a massive ripple effect across the sport of MMA. From fans to fighters to media and managers, the halt of UFC operations caused many reactions on social media. Check below for more.

This was inevitable. The denial about it has been out of indifference to public health officials.
My personal bet is there's no way Khabib-Tony happens in April. Seems completely ludicrous to think otherwise.
Will it happen in 2020? I'm still very hopeful it will. https://t.co/LN4s1cr2fB

Just seen that some of the fights for UFC London were moved to Cage Warriors 113 at the O2! 😲

Not gonna lie, I didn't really believe Khabib-Tony would ever happen but a global pandemic being the ender is really something. Keeps them both split on reasons the fight canceled as well.

While disappointing for the fighters who were prepped to be on these cards, it is for sure the correct call. https://t.co/lLKRfs7EBb

These are real stories that had real impacts on their families. I take that seriously and so should you. But the true test of the UFC's generosity is what's to come.
Fighters on the London, Portland and Columbus cards should be paid, arguably full purses. That's real generosity. https://t.co/HGf2OubB4p

Honestly, at this point guys who need to make ends meet should start livestreaming sparring sessions on youtube. I honestly think the hardcores will take whatever they can get. And if nothing else it keeps the spirit of MMA alive kinda . #MMA #UFC

The "we embraced government regulation, the old owners ran from it guy" was literally going to take his show to a reservation in Oklahoma when the NAC shut his plans down. The circle of life is complete. https://t.co/jTxu4lziLx
