Cornerback Demarcus Gardner flips commitment to Kentucky football

Kentucky football picks up a commitment from 2025 cornerback Demarcus Gardner.

Kentucky football and coach Mark Stoops have been hot on the recruiting trail recently, with commitments from Nicholas Smith, Ja’kayden Ferguson, and Andrew Purcell. Now, they’ve added another cornerback by gaining a commitment from Demarcus Gardner.

Gardner is rated three stars by 247sports and is inside their top 750 players in the class. He’s 6’0″, 170 lbs, and was also a member of his high school track team.

Central Florida landed the original commitment from Gardner, but he took a visit to Kentucky afterwards. His visit was on June 14th. On June 22, he decommitted from UCF and declared his commitment to the Wildcats.

Kentucky’s 2025 class is heavy on the secondary. They added Gardner to Purcell and also landed four star safety Martels Carter a few weeks ago. In the SEC, a good secondary is a necessity, and Stoops is making it a priority. It will be interesting to see if they add any more to the current group going forward.
