With limited funds and the need for help on defense, the Tennessee Titans had no choice but to let wide receiver Corey Davis leave in free agency, which was a tough pill to swallow for many Titans fans.
Davis ended up agreeing to terms on a three-year, $37.5 million deal with the New York Jets, with $27 million guaranteed. The Titans were never going to be able to match that price.
And so ends the former No. 5 overall pick’s time in Nashville.
While he wasn’t exactly what Tennessee was hoping for when they drafted him, Davis did come on strong in his final season with the team and was always a class act.
Shortly after news broke of Davis’ deal with the Jets, some of his former teammates took to Twitter with their reactions, as did Davis:
Your Glory Father!! ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ beyond thankful

With the departure of Davis, the Titans have a lot of work to do with their receiving corps. that was already in need of depth even before the team released Adam Humphries last month.
Look for Tennessee to make a move or two in free agency, especially to address their hole at the No. 2 receiver spot, while also focusing on adding a young wideout or two during the 2021 NFL draft.
