As Karl Dorrell’s third season looms, his coaching staff appears to be well on board with what’s developing in Boulder.
New Buffaloes offensive coordinator Mike Sanford and second-year defensive coordinator Chris Wilson — two of the most important pieces on Colorado’s staff — recently shared their thoughts on the upcoming season with The Athletic’s Doug Haller. Both Sanford and Wilson had similar sentiments on how the Buffs have ignored the low external expectations in favor of a budding confidence within the team.
Here’s exactly what Sanford said (h/t The Athletic):
“Obviously, on paper we’re supposed to be terrible. Everybody’s saying that. But I think internally there’s a different feeling.”
Wilson, one Dorrell’s first hires back in 2020, also commented on the improved culture he has noticed:
“This is Year 3 for us in the program. You can see the culture shifting. Now we just got to get the results from it. You can see us trending the right direction.”
