Cooper Kupp playing celebrity golf tournament, auctioning Jordan cleats for charity

Cooper Kupp will auction off his Jordan golf shoes from the week for charity.

Cooper Kupp has been working hard to stay ready and in shape for the upcoming 2020 season, but he’ll be taking the week to relax and work on his game in another sport. Kupp is in the field at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament this week, which is played in Lake Tahoe each year.

The three-round event begins on Friday and runs through Sunday, and it features celebrities from all professions. Kupp is paired with Adam Thielen and Case Keenum on Friday, teeing off at 11:55 a.m. His tee time is sandwiched between pairings of Steve Young, Anthony Lynn and Mike Vrabel, and Steph Curry, Dell Curry and Aaron Rodgers.

Kupp, being the community leader that he is, is using this week as an opportunity to give back. He’ll be auctioning off his Jordan 11 golf shoes that he’s wearing this week with all proceeds going to Advancement Project California in the fight against racism and oppression.

I'm looking forward to being able to play in the ACC golf tournament in Tahoe this weekend and to be a part of raising money for non-profits providing relief in the midst of COVID-19. There is, however, another ongoing fight that is happening against systemic racism, racial inequality, and communal inequality. To help raise awareness and funds, I will be auctioning off the golf spikes I wear over the five rounds in Tahoe (the entire AJ11 pack). All proceeds will be donated to Advancement Project California, a 501(c)3 that is leading the way in the fight for a brighter future for all. My family and I will continue to be a part of this journey until everyone, no matter gender, race or religion, are treated as equals. This is just a step along that journey. 🏌🏻‍♂️👟🙏🏻

Kupp is the only Rams player in the field this week, but former Rams safety Eric Weddle is also playing in Tahoe. He’s paired with Kyle Fuller and Troy Mullins at 11:50 off the back-nine. Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, Patrick Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald, Kyle Rudolph and Travis Kelce are among the other NFL players in the field.

Tony Romo has won the event in each of the last two years, after Mark Mulder won it the previous three years.
