By now you’ve probably heard that Cooper Kupp is having quite a good season with Matthew Stafford as his new quarterback. Through six games, he already has 653 yards receiving on 46 catches, scoring seven touchdowns already.
All of that has translated to some massive numbers in fantasy football, rewarding owners who drafted him in the middle rounds. In fact, only four wide receivers have ever gotten off to a better start than Kupp in PPR (point per reception) formats, which puts his stats into perspective.
According to Scott Barrett, his 152.8 points are the fifth-most ever by a wide receiver through six weeks, putting him in the company of Wes Welker, Jerry Rice, DeAndre Hopkins and Adam Thielen. He’s even gotten off to a better start than Randy Moss, who had 1,493 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2007.
Most Fantasy Points (PPR) by a WR
+ Through first 6 weeks of a season all-time1. Wes Welker, 2011 (167.4)
2. Jerry Rice, 1986 (157.2)
3. DeAndre Hopkins, 2015 (156.6)
4. Adam Thielen, 2018 (153.2)
5. COOPER KUPP, 2021 (152.8)
6. Randy Moss, 2007 (149.0)— Scott Barrett (@ScottBarrettDFB) October 17, 2021
Kupp is obviously being targeted heavily by Stafford, but he’s also turning those targets into big plays. He already has five games with seven-plus catches and 90 or more yards, with his worst performance being a five-catch, 64-yard game in Week 4.
