The Duke men’s basketball team looks more like a juggernaut with each passing game, and the Blue Devils kept their place at No. 4 in the AP Top 25 Men’s College Basketball Poll on Monday.
[autotag]Cooper Flagg[/autotag] and his squad have now won eight straight dating back to November 29, and Duke put one of its best performances forward over the weekend. The Blue Devils traveled to Texas for a road battle against the 11-2 SMU Mustangs and left with an 89-62 victory despite head coach Jon Scheyer staying home with an illness.
Duke now only trails the undefeated Tennessee Volunteers, Auburn Tigers, and Iowa State Cyclones in the standings. The Tigers lost at Cameron Indoor Stadium last month, but they’ve won each of the other 13 games on their schedule to keep themselves toward the top of the board.
The Southeastern Conference dominated the entire top 10 with six different teams, including the No. 6 Kentucky Wildcats (who beat Duke in Atlanta back in November). The ACC, on the other hand, didn’t match that success in the eyes of the voters. While the Pittsburgh Panthers finished first in the Receiving Votes category, no other team from the conference reached the top 25.
