The Atlantic Coast Conference appears content with what they have right now in terms of programs. And sounds clear now after meeting earlier in the week to discuss adding more programs.
The ACC met with the topic of adding Cal and Stanford out of the Pac-12 and potentially SMU as well. But those conversations are going nowhere and have stalled per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Thamel is reporting that ACC presidents met on Wednesday night again and the pursuit of Stanford and Cal to the conference has “hit significant roadblocks” all but killing the chances. He also noted that there was always long odds because there wasn’t significant value.

It does make sense when you think about it. The value that Stanford and Cal add isn’t enough to push the needle, especially after the Big Ten added Oregon and Washington while the Big 12 added Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah.
The ACC doesn’t seem like they are in a hurry to add any more programs in the near future, either.
