Contract details for Bill Belichick at North Carolina revealed

Bill Belichick is getting a big three-year deal to coach the UNC football program.

The biggest news in college football is not with the transfer portal or the start of the College Football Playoff, but instead what is happening in Chapel Hill.

On Wednesday, Inside Carolina revealed that North Carolina and Bill Belichick were finalizing a deal for him to be the program’s next head coach after the departure of Mack Brown. Multiple outlets later confirmed that as the Board of Trustees is set to meet and approve the deal, ushering in a new era.

And as all the details are slowly coming out, including the money and length of the contract.

Per a press release from the school, it’s a five-year deal with three years and $30M guaranteed.  It’s a huge deal and will put Belichick among the highest-paid coaches in all of college football.

Belichick, the second-winningest coach in NFL history, agreed to a five-year deal pending approval by the University’s Board of Trustees and Board of Governors. A news conference will be held at a time to be determined to formally introduce the Tar Heels’ new coach.

As the days went on, the rumors were that the two sides were meeting to finalize key details including the contract. Now that it’s settled, we have that price tag of what it cost for Belichick to come to North Carolina and hopefully get this program back on track.

Let’s hope it pays off in a big way for the Tar Heels as it should be a fun offseason in Chapel Hill right away.
