Contenders or pretenders? The Steelers will know soon

The Steelers toughest three-game stretch of the season starts now.

The last time the Pittsburgh Steelers started the season 4-0 was 1979. And for those of us old enough to remember, things turned out pretty well for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh is currently off to another 4-0 start in 2020 and is one of only five remaining undefeated teams in the NFL. However, critics continue to point at the fact the Steelers four opponents are combined for only three total wins on the season.

This fairly raises some doubt as to just how good this team is in the grand scheme of things. The situation is made more complicated when you consider even in those four wins, Pittsburgh has not played dominant football against some inept teams.

But things will be settled in the next three weeks. Pittsburgh faces a three-game gauntlet which should either quiet the critics completely or given them all the ammunition they need to bury him completely.

This week the Steelers welcome the 4-1 Cleveland Browns to Pittsburgh and will be the first big test of the season. But this is just the beginning. The Steelers have to follow that game up with a two-game road stand against the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens. Their combined schedule right now is 11-2.

But I want to pass the question off to all of you. Are the Steelers contenders or pretenders?
