Run it back, says [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag].
The Irish superstar is down to see a rematch between [autotag]Gervonta Davis[/autotag] and [autotag]Ryan Garcia[/autotag] following their 136-pound super fight this past Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The bout ended in a seventh-round TKO, with Davis stopping Garcia with a body shot.
Given the political landscape of boxing, McGregor thinks two young stars should do a rematch.
“Sure, why not?,” McGregor told InsideFighting. “They already made the match, so it would be easy to make again. There’s a storyline. He doesn’t have to dehydrate, or he’s allowed to rehydrate. I think there’s a story easily made.
“I think in boxing, matches are so hard to make. If you think of all the other contenders they could face: David Haney, Shakur Stevenson, Vasily Lomachenko. They’re all difficult to fight, the fights are hard to make. But here you have two guys that have already fought, and like I said, there’s a story. I’d like to see it again.”

Garcia, who had competed at 140 pounds in his most recent outing back in February and then at 138 pounds in the fight before last July, had to get down to 136 for the fight against Davis.
On top of that, a hydration clause was set, prohibiting both fighters from weighing in more than 146 pounds, 10 more than their contracted weight, when they entered the ring for their 12-round contest.
McGregor believes the hydration clause affected Garcia, especially when it came time to overcome Davis’ body shot in the seventh, which he wasn’t able to recover from before the referee’s 10-count.
“It’s a tough ask, but with that little bit of weight, and you don’t have to dehydrate or allowed to rehydrate, it makes a difference, for sure,” McGregor said when asked if Garcia has what it takes to beat Davis. “It wasn’t the body shot that dropped him instantly. He took it, he went back, he thought about it, and then went down. It wasn’t a shot that ended him. It was a shot over time. If he was allowed to rehydrate that may have been different, I don’t know.”
