Connor McGovern week-to-week with dislocated kneecap

Connor McGovern suffered a dislocated kneecap during Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, per NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

McGovern reportedly has a chance of avoiding surgery but does have some damage done. McGovern is going to seek a second opinion on the injury and is considered week-to-week.

McGovern left the game during the first half and was replaced by Wes Schweitzer, who shifted over from right guard to center. Not long after, Schweitzer went down with an injury and the Jets were forced to turn to practice-squad elevation Xavier Newman at center, after he already had to replace Schweitzer at right guard. That put Billy Turner in at right guard.

Avoiding surgery would certainly be good news for McGovern and the Jets following Sunday. They’re also hopeful that Joe Tippmann will be back soon from his quad injury, maybe even being able to play next Monday against the Chargers. A positive update, nonetheless, for the Jets.
