Albert Wilson – Jaylen Waddle
Waddle size:
Height: 5-10 Weight: 182
Wilson size:
Height: 5-9 Weight: 195
Both Waddle and Wilson are shorter guys compared to many in the NFL, but this gives them their own competitive edge. These two receivers are eerily similar in their stature and playing abilities.
This comparison is by far the most similar, and should make Tua a lot more comfortable when throwing to him.
Wilson’s 2019 season was far from great, but Dolphins Wire’s Kyle Crabbs believes that he has the potential to return as “the run-after-catch threat he was when healthy in 2018.”
In 2018, Wilson averaged 15 yards per reception, which includes yards after the catch. In 2019, Waddle averaged 17 yard per reception. It is clear they are both the short-yardage option with hopes of breaking through and gaining additional yardage.
Tua did not throw to Waddle as much as the other starting Alabama receivers – probably because he was too interested in throwing the deep ball to Jeudy or Ruggs. However, in the NFL this may be his best option as he can look to play it safe and get down the field with the shorter, less risky, plays.
