UFC fights certainly get people emotionally involved. Clenched fists, open mouths, leaping from the seat, hands in the air, hugging the person next to you – and that’s just the commentators!
Whether it’s Jon Anik grabbing the edge of the desk in anticipation of a big finish, Paul Felder leaping out of his chair or Daniel Cormier hugging Anik’s arm, the UFC’s commentary team lives every moment – just the same as those watching at home or in bars across the world.
Some of those reactions from the desk have become famous moments of their own. There are memorable calls from Anik, Joe Rogan and former UFC play-by-play man Mike Goldberg. And who can forget “DC’s” repeated exclamations of “THUG ROSE!” after Rose Namajunas stunned Joanna Jedrzejczyk to win the UFC women’s strawweight title.
Look out, too, for a great cameo by stunned UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby, whose reaction to Anthony Pettis’ showstopping Superman punch finish of Stephen Thompson was likely replicated by millions of fans watching the fight around the world at that moment.
“What the (expletive)” indeed!
