Commanders QB Jayden Daniels will not practice Wednesday

Daniels will not practice Wednesday.

After a day off, the Washington Commanders returned to the practice field on Wednesday. Before practice, head coach Dan Quinn met with the media and announced that rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels would not practice Wednesday

“He won’t practice today,” Quinn said. “He’ll continue to do all the meetings and our individual stuff to go through that, but he’ll get the treatment today. Then he’ll continue to progress through today and tomorrow, and I’ll update you guys after Friday’s practice, and we’ll go from there.”

Quinn wants to ensure that Daniels “can fully express himself and do all the things he does which makes him so unique and special.”

Daniels injured his rib on his first carry, a 46-yard run in Sunday’s 40-7 win over Carolina. While he finished the drive, he departed the game and did not return. Marcus Mariota relieved Daniels and played well in the win.

Sunday’s game is highly anticipated because it features the top two quarterbacks from the 2024 NFL draft (Daniels and Chicago’s Caleb Williams).
