It didn’t take long for Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels to take home his first NFL award.
On Thursday, Daniels was named the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week for his Week 1 performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In Washington’s 37-20 loss to the Bucs, Daniels completed 17 of 24 passes for 184, and rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns. Daniels did not turn the ball over, but he wasn’t perfect either. Something he acknowledged after the game and on Wednesday when he spoke to the media.
“Obviously, like I said after the game, I grade myself hard,” Daniels said. “We didn’t get the win, so it’s kind of like, alright, we go back, watch the film. You watch the tape, it’s never as good as you thought it was, it’s never as bad as you thought it was. So, you just move on. You learn from those lessons that you learned on tape. Take the coaching, you move on to the next week.”
