Commanders QB Jayden Daniels is fine after ugly hit vs. Falcons

Daniels was fine after scary hit.

Every Washington Commanders fan was nervous late in the first quarter of Sunday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons when rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels took a nasty hit.

Facing a second-and-10 from the 30-yard line, Atlanta linebacker JD Bertrand ran through running back Brian Robinson’s block, sacking Daniels. In the process, Daniels’ right leg was bent underneath his body.

Daniels promptly got up and took the next snap, completing a pass to wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus before Washington was forced to punt.

Here’s the play.

Washington doctors quickly surrounded Daniels, who waved them off and told them he was fine. Daniels went to the bench and began preparing for the next drive.

Fans across social media had flashbacks of 2012 when then-rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III injured his knee against the Baltimore Ravens and later reinjured the knee in a playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
