Commanders’ New Year’s resolution: Get younger around Jayden Daniels

What should the Commanders’ New Year’s resolution be in 2025?

The Washington Commanders are having a much better season than anyone, even Dan Quinn, anticipated. It’s the first time since 1991 that the Commanders have won 11 or more games in a season. They’ve had three 10-win seasons in that span, but only one in each decade.

Jayden Daniels revitalized the Commanders this season and is creating plays out of nothing. He’s breaking records set by other rookies and if he doesn’t get Offensive Rookie of the Year, there’s something wrong with the system.

That said, the Commanders still have work to do. They made the postseason this year, but if they want to win a Super Bowl, they need to make some changes. CBS Sports came up with the perfect New Year’s resolution for the Commanders for 2025:

Get younger around Jayden Daniels. The rookie has transformed Washington into an exciting, upstart contender. Now Dan Quinn’s side of the ball could stand to add some of its own long-term pieces.

This season, Jayden Daniels has thrown for 3,530 yards and 25 touchdowns with nine interceptions and 43 sacks taken. He’s also rushed for 144 yards and an additional six touchdowns. There hasn’t been a quarterback this dynamic in his first season, well, ever.

If the Commanders use this resolution and get some youthful talent around Daniels, the Commanders could be an unstoppable force for years to come. But they have to get their protection in place for Daniels as well as solidify the defense.
