Commanders fans chanting ‘Heinicke’ after latest Washington touchdown

Washington fans also chanted “you like that” as a nod to Kirk Cousins.

The Washington Commanders went into halftime trailing 7-3 and had less than 100 yards of total offense.

Washington quarterback Taylor Heinicke changed things on the Commanders first possession of the second half. On a 2nd-and-7, Heinicke throws a prayer deep into triple coverage that Washington wide receiver Curtis Samuel somehow comes away with for a touchdown.

The Commanders had their first lead.

Washington’s defense continued doing its job, giving the ball back to Heinicke and the offense. Heinicke led another terrific drive, finding Samuel on a critical third down around midfield.

And thanks to a Za’Darius Smith penalty, the Commanders had a first down at the Vikings’ 11-yard line.

A few plays later, Heinicke found wide receiver Dax Milne for a touchdown to give the Commanders a 17-7 lead and the crowd erupted with Heinicke chants.

In a nod to Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins, Washington also serenaded him with “You like that” chants.
