Commanders CB Emmanuel Forbes reacts to his ejection in Sunday’s game

What was Emmanuel Forbes’ reaction to his ejection?

Perhaps the most shocking event from Week 10 in the NFL was Washington Commanders cornerback Emmanuel Forbes being ejected for an illegal hit.

In the first quarter of Washington’s Week 10 game at Seattle, Forbes hit Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett, knocking the ball loose and forcing third down. But wait……..there were flags.

Upon further review, Forbes led with his helmet, which is an automatic 15-yard penalty, and Forbes will likely receive a fine later this week.

But shockingly, officials ejected Forbes from the game. Here’s the hit, judge for yourself:

There’s no doubt, by the current rules, that should’ve been flagged. So, that part was correct. But was ejecting Forbes really necessary?

The 170-pound rookie isn’t necessarily known for his physical style of play.

After the game, Forbes was asked about the ejection.

“They just told me I was ejected from the game,” Forbes said. “I didn’t know why.”

Neither do we, Emmanuel. Neither does anyone.

Did Forbes see the replay once he was ejected?

“Yes, I was shocked,” he said. “It wasn’t like ‘I was trying to ‘kill him’ play. I was just trying to make a play on the ball.”

NFL officials are taught, when in doubt, throw the flag in situations like this. In this case, it was correct. However, the expectation is that “New York” wouldn’t allow situations like Forbes’ ejection to happen. Yet, it appears the ruling came from “New York.”
