Commanders and Eagles swap some 2025 draft picks for former 1st rounder Jahan Dotson

The Commanders traded 2022 1st round WR Jahan Dotson to the Eagles for some 2025 draft picks

The Washington Commanders have thrown in the towel on the team’s first-round pick from the 2022 NFL Draft. Washington has traded former Penn State wideout Jahan Dotson away after two uneven but modestly productive seasons.

One team’s misfit becomes another’s hopeful missing puzzle piece. In this case, it’s Washington’s own NFC East rival, the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles traded some 2025 draft capital to the Commanders to acquire Dotson.

The trade details, from Eagles Wire’s Glenn Erby:

Washington is sending Dotson and a fifth-round pick to the Eagles in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and two seventh-round picks.

Dotson is expected to compete quickly for the No. 3 wideout role with his new team. He had a decent start to his Commanders career, but 2024 was his third offensive system, third position coach and well beyond the third quarterback Dotson worked with in Washington. He wound up catching 84 passes for 1,041 yards and 11 TDs in two seasons.

The Eagles do still have a third-round pick in 2025 even after the trade. Philadelphia owns the Miami Dolphins’ third-rounder from a 2024 draft-day trade, which Miami dealt to move up and take RB Jaylen Wright.
