Colts WR Michael Pittman doesn’t think shoulder will hinder him moving forward

Michael Pittman doesn’t think the re-aggravated shoulder injury from Sunday’s loss will hinder him going forward.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman suffered what he would call a minor shoulder injury in Sunday’s loss against the Detroit Lions, according to The Athletic’s James Boyd.

Pittman would tell reporters on Monday that the shoulder was a re-aggravation of a prior issue but he doesn’t believe it will hinder him moving forward.

Pittman suffered the injury in the first quarter of the game. On a 3rd-and-8 during the Colts’ second possession of the game, Pittman caught a pass on a crossing route that picked up nine yards and moved the chains. However, on the tackle, it looked like he landed on his shoulder.

Pittman added on Monday that he went into the locker room where they “put some stuff in there to help me finish the game.”

In addition to what Pittman had to say on Monday, another sign that he will be fine was his play against the Lions. Pittman would have his most productive game in a number of weeks, catching 6-of-7 passes for 96 yards, with four of those catches picking up first downs.

In addition to Sunday’s shoulder injury, Pittman has also been navigating a back injury for much of the season. Pittman has said previously that with the lingering back injury, he is often week-to-week and his status is dependent upon how he’s feeling.

After missing the Colts’ Week 10 matchup with Buffalo, Pittman has played the last two weeks, which includes him being a full participant in all three practices last week.

It is looking like the Colts will be shorthanded at receiver for this upcoming game with Josh Downs reportedly a “long shot” to play, according to Ian Rapoport, as he navigates a shoulder injury.
