Colts vs Giants Week 17 inactives: Who’s in and who’s out?

The Colts announced that five players will be inactive for Sunday’s Week 17 game vs the Giants. Here is a look at who is in and who is out.

The Indianapolis Colts have listed five players as inactive for their Week 17 matchup against the New York Giants. Here is a look at who is in and who is out.

QB Anthony Richardson
DT Adetomiwa Adebawore
TE Will Mallory
DE Isaiah Land
OL Dalton Tucker

Each Sunday, teams are permitted to have only 48 players active on the gameday roster. With the Colts not elevating anyone from the practice squad this week, five players needed to be inactive for this specific game.

Of note as well is who is not on the inactives list for the Colts. EJ Speed, Jaylon Carlies, Quenton Nelson, and Mo Alie-Cox, all of whom were questionable on Friday, will be available on Sunday.

After not practicing at all during the week, Richardson was initially listed as questionable, although the Colts’ would downgrade him to out on Saturday. This means that Joe Flacco will get the start, an opportunity he is ready for, and Sam Ehlinger will be the backup.

With the Colts healthy along the offensive line, Tucker is inactive for the second game in a row, with Ryan Kelly off injured reserve and Mark Glowinski now the starting right guard.

With Anthony Gould showing promise these last few games in the return man role, the Colts opt to keep him available even though they are healthy at receiver and instead will make Mallory inactive. Even when available, Mallory has been the fourth tight end option, averaging fewer than 10 snaps per game.

Land, meanwhile, has been a regular inactive this season when Indianapolis is healthy at defensive end.

Lastly, with all six of their linebackers available, the Colts had to go light at another position group and chose Adebawore at defensive tackle. Since DeForest Buckner returned in Week 8, Adebawore’s role has been very small as the fifth member of that rotation.
