Colts to host Bears for joint training camp practices

The Colts will host the Bears for joint training camp practices in August.

The Indianapolis Colts will host the Chicago Bears for joint training camp practices at the Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, per Mike Chappell of Fox 59.

The Colts have been hosting a team for joint training camp practices for the majority of Chris Ballard’s tenure as general manager. That hasn’t changed with Shane Steichen taking over as the new head coach.

The only season the Colts haven’t done so was during 2020 when the pandemic limited what teams could do.

This is an easy match between the two teams considering the connections from both sides. Bears head coach Matt Eberflus served as the defensive coordinator for the Colts for four seasons (2018-2021).

The aforementioned Ballard worked with Bears general manager Ryan Poles with the Kansas City Chiefs (2013-2017) and before that, Ballard was a scout for Chicago from 2001-2011 and served as the director of pro scouting in 2012.

It will be interesting to see how the teams face off, especially considering the dynamic quarterbacks both teams will be boasting.

The Colts and Bears will cap the weekend off with a preseason game at Lucas Oil Stadium on Aug. 19.
