The Indianapolis Colts have many decisions to make this offseason but one of them may be one they have to wait on when it comes to the future of quarterback Philip Rivers.
The 39-year-old quarterback is uncertain of whether he wants to return in 2021 and while the Colts have to go through their process, the veteran will be given time to think about his decision.
In his end-of-year press conference, general manager Chris Ballard said the two parties will take some time to evaluate.
First up: do you plan to bring back Philip Rivers?
“Do I think Philip Rivers is a winning QB we can go to the Super Bowl bowl with? Absolutely I do.”
Said they had 1hr long convo yesterday. Both sides need to take time to think. Rivers also has to decide his own future playing.

After the retirement of left tackle Anthony Castonzo, the Colts will be waiting to see what Rivers will do. That said, they are going through their own process of evaluating the position and how Rivers fits into that and into the future.
Ballard said they want Rivers back in the mix if he wants to return, but won’t commit to anything concrete this early in the process.
Ballard: "Do we want Philip back? Yes."
But the GM vowed he's not committing to anything.
"If this was a 30-year-old or 35-year-old Philip Rivers, weren't not even having this talk. But he's 39 and we need to think this through."

This will be a major storyline for the Colts given their need at the quarterback position and could very well dictate how Indy goes about its offseason.
But we likely won’t know what either party wants to do until about a month into the offseason.
